Optimizing Articles for Search Engines

f you chose your title, excerpt, category and tags carefully your article will be automatically optimized for search engines (SEO), but if you would like to know more about how to optimize your article best for better search engine rankings watch this video.

It shows you can “overwrite” the way the system automatically optimizes your content. You will be able to customize the following parts search engines take into consideration:

1.      The article’s URL

2.      The All in One SEO options

  • Meta Title: Your title, shown in the browser’s title bar and search results
  • Meta Description: Your Excerpt, text shown in the search results
  • Meta Keywords: Your categories and tags; terms people would use to search for your content

If you wish to improve your search ranking, then BE SPECIFIC! As matter of fact, the tags and categories will be part of the meta keywords of your article that search engines look at as part of their evaluation process. If you “spam” those the search engines will most likely ignore them.

Additionally, the first category selected in the list will be part of your URL name (i.e. http://documenttechnology-news.com/your-category-name/your-article-title), which further improves your possibilities to rank better in the search engine results. Therefore you may want to choose only ONE category (if the first in the list is not the best choice) and add the other categories as tags.
